This Kid Says the Cutest Things

When Davis was a baby I documented every single word and sentence he could string together. Now that he is a little older the things I remember to write down are few and far between. I'll work on that in 2012 but here are some cute things Davis said late this year:

November 2011 (Davis, age 3):

We must have been talking about being happy and sad....or not being sad....or something like that.
Davis: "I'm not going to be sad...or damaged in a fire."

After the paint (err...dust) project in November we told Davis that first night that his room smelled too much like paint - so he needed to sleep in our bed that night. I am writing this post two month later and when he wants to sleep in our room he tells us that he thinks his room smells like paint.

When I picked Davis up from school two days after he got stitches I asked his teacher (Ms. Cara) if he took it easy on his knee.

Me: "Did he keep off his knee? Did it seem to bother him?"
Ms. Cara: "He did a great job and it didn't seem to bother him. But, I have a cute story for you about when I asked the kids for prayer requests. When I asked for the requests Davis raised his hand and asked that we pray for Chuck E Cheese (since that's what he wanted to do for his birthday party). I told him that it might be a good idea to pray for his knee to heal. He said "Yes, let's pray for Chuck E. Cheese AND my knee."

November and December have been a bit of a struggle in getting Davis to school. I think the permanence of it has set in...and when you ask him...he'd just rather stay at home and play with me. Bless his heart, I'll take it while I can get it. But, the story went....

Me: "Davis, you don't get to choose if you want to go to school but you DO get to choose your attitude. So, let's be happy about going to school!  I know you have lots of friends and school and Ms. Cara is very nice."
Davis: "But I don't like Ms. Cara because she doesn't have cool clothes."

December 2011 (still age 3):

One day on our way home from school we saw a coyote running in a field. We started talking about what he was doing....probably looking for lunch...maybe a mouse or a snake or a rabbit. After a few moments of silence....

Davis: "For lunch I like to eat smashed up baby piglets."

Davis: "Mommy, what is Santa going to bring YOU?"
Me: "Nothing, honey. Santa doesn't bring anything for adults....just kids."
Davis: "No, you can get family stuff like a computer or jewelries!"

This story is one that Mimi texted to Eric and I because she thought it was so cute...

When the gal from down the street came this morning to give me a thank you note for a baby gift I gave her, of course Davis was at the door with me. She said "oh, this must be your grandson". So she asked him his name and he (of course) said Davis. And then she asked how old and he said "three and three quarters" and she said "oh, you must be turning four soon" and Davis said "yes, then I get to take a WHOLE vitamin."

When kids are younger than four, they take a half of a kids vitamin. When Davis is four he gets to take a whole one and he has been looking forward to it for a long time!

Davis: "Mommy, is daddy going to come to the hotel with us tomorrow night?"
(every New Year's Eve we stay at a hotel)
Me: "Yes, of course he's coming with us."
Davis: "Good because I like daddy more than you."
