Maui April 25 - May 2 2013

Maui was, well, amazing. We had such a wonderfully relaxing time and it was the first I've ever hear Eric say that he could have stayed even longer than the 6 nights we stayed. So, you know it had to be good!

We flew from Denver to San Francisco then on to Maui. Davis did a great job on both flights (we had lots of movies and activities to keep him entertained). When Eric and I went to Maui several years ago (2004, I think) we stayed at the Hyatt in Lahina and we loved it. So, we decided to stay in the same area during our stay last month. We rented a one bedroom condo at the Honua Kai resort and it was everything we had hoped it would be - beautiful pool, amazing beach and close to shopping and restaurants and . Eric's favorite part was having a kitchen and pool all within walking distance (okay, and wifi so he could stay a little connected to work). Davis' favorite part was the water slide at the pool and my favorite part was the beach.

The only plans we had prior to visiting Maui was a surf lesson (on Saturday the 27th at 8:30 am). Other than surfing, we just did what we wanted, when we wanted. It was paradise!

Our surf lesson instructor was Sharky (with Maui Surfer Girls Co.) and he made the experience something we will never forget. He taught us about respecting the ocean and coral, surfing etiquette, and proper technique. Within an hour all three of us 'got up' on the board. It happened to be a perfect day for weather and we were really lucky to have such great waves.

We loved eating out at Cheeseburger In Paradise and Cilantro (yummy authentic Mexican street tacos). We did a little shopping in Wailea (no, I didn't see anything at Louis or Gucci that I couldn't live without) and Davis joined a group of Hula dancers onstage at Whalers Village. One morning we decided to venture out to Twin Falls just off of Mile Marker 2 on the road to Hana. The hike off the highway was about 1 mile and the falls were beautiful. Davis and Eric even went swimming in the water. On our way back we stopped at a cute little hippie town and ate flat bread pizza and a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Oh, and we rented a Mustang convertible. Davis picked red. =0)
