2010 National Western Stock Show

For me there was something nostalgic about our visit to the stock show. It was smelly and a little dirty, but full of something wonderful I can't explain. It reminded me of when I was kid. My sister rode English and every year we would go to the stock show to see the horses and watch the Clydesdale horses pull the Budweiser wagon. Strange, I know. But, it's one of those memories I love.

When we went last weekend I was surprised at how kid-friendly a lot of it was. We got general admission tickets (just to wander around, not for the Rodeo) and found some great activities for Davis. We started at the petting zoo. I think this was his favorite part of the day. We fed and petted goats, pigs, llamas, chickens and a donkey. After the petting zoo we found the pony rides - which he was oddly excited about (I say "oddly" because he is adventurous, but I didn't think he was THAT adventurous). Sure enough. After waiting in line and getting strapped into the saddle...he freaked out! That's okay. Maybe next year. After the petting zoo and almost-pony-ride we went down to the barns where we saw the cows and horses up close. I think Eric and I were just as excited about it as Davis was.

The freak-out. Poor Cowboy.
