As 2009 is quickly nearing its end, I remembered that I added “blog more for keepsake purposes” to my “to do” list. Which, I am yet to do. So, the other night as I was lying in bed I told myself that I wanted to write down the classes that Davis and I took together this year, thinking, that someday, I’ll look back and say, “I know I had you in all sorts of cool classes…I just don’t remember what they were”. So…all that intro for this:
Summer of 2009 - “Crockadile Rock” – this was a music class where the teacher sang all the popular children’s songs (Itsy Bitsy Spider, Baby Bumble Bee, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, etc.). The teacher had props for the kids for every song. It was great! Except for the fact that Davis hated it! I think the class was too loud and too overwhelming. I plan to try it again next summer to see if he likes it then!
Fall 2009 – “MusicGarten” – this was a music class that Davis loved. The teacher sang songs, had fun marches, let the kids make a picture on the felt board, exposed them to musical instruments and Davis’ favorite – they got to play the biggest drum we’ve very seen!
Ongoing 2009 – “Story Time” – off and on throughout the year we have gone to story time at the local Castle Rock library. Davis and I love it, but the time frame makes it a little difficult to fit into our weekly schedule. Oh, and Davis is in a bad habit of throwing the balls (albeit, their soft) at other kids’ heads. So, we’ll work on that a little more before going back.
Ongoing 2009 – Our Playgroup – Since Davis was just a few months old I’ve coordinated a monthly playgroup for all my friends and their kids. Davis absolutely loves playgroup, and I always look forward to even more! Every other month we have playtime and lunch at someone’s house, the other months we do other activities like the zoo, Monkey Bizness, etc. I plan to keep this group going as long as the moms have a reason to get together…and trust me…there is PLENTY of reason!
