As many of you may know, Davis can be a bit of a picky eater. Two things he refuses to eat: rice and couscous. So, after getting a GREAT recommendation from Laura (Eric's cousin) we decided to start having fun with our food (and other textures) by doing a sensory "table". By table I mean a bowl on our table. The idea is that you let your kid(s) play with every type of texture you can think of (foods, packing peanuts, snow, sand, uncooked beans, etc.) to expose them to different textures (and, in this case, foods).
Yesterday I decided to have a sensory table with cooked rice and cooked couscous to see if he would try to eat it. Sure enough - that little stinker - all be darned if he didn't eat 5 fist fulls of it! The good news is that it works! The bad news - I think he might be trying to manipulate me when I give it to him at dinner.
BTW -after cleaning up the mess below (keep in mind that you can't see what's on the FLOOR!) I decided to invest $10 in a "real" sensory table I found on CraigsList.
