Glenwood Springs July 1-3, 2011

Growing up Eric and his family spent many a vacation in Glenwood Springs. Eric tells the story over and over again of how his family would pack up in the Chartreuse Caboose (green VW Bus) and head for the mountains. He remembers when his dad would pull the caboose over near the stream and they'd set up camp for the night with anticipation of an exciting day at the hot springs the next day. Since I had never been to Glenwood we decided to take a trip over the 4th of July weekend. After our weekend there we've decided that Glenwood could easily be a yearly trip. The town is quaint, the pool is awesome and there are about 1,000 different activities you can do to keep busy (if the pool, putt-putt, and slides aren't enough).

We left of Friday, July 3rd and stopped in Vail to eat breakfast at the Westside Cafe and Market (de-lish)!

Davis & Eric at breakfast.

When we arrived in Glenwood it was about 10:00 am and our room wasn't ready until 4:00, so we headed straight for the pool. In all of our excitement running up the sidewalk and through the front door I did this:

Yep. I did it. I opened the door on Davis' foot (he was barefoot since his flip-flops wouldn't let him run fast enough). The photo makes it look much better than it was. It was awful! It was so bad we ran right through the pay stations asking where the nearest First Aid was located. After they cleaned and bandaged it (all the while my main focus was to NOT pass out) we were off to the pool! Luckily that was our only major injury. Well, unless you count Eric's excruciating sunburn that he got our first day there. What a great lessons for Davis to see WHY we wear sunscreen. =0)

Here are some photos from the trip:

We stayed at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, right across the street.

Good thing we had unlimited putt-putt with our vacation package. Davis couldn't get enough.

This is where Eric and Davis spent 95% of their time.

Breakfast photos (two different mornings). It was included in our package. Love that!

His new favorite "food"....hot dogs.

On our second day I spent one long luxurious hour on this patio, in the shade, with a book, eating lunch (while the boys napped). Heaven!

Dinner our last night in Glenwood at The Brewpub. Our favorite restaurant there!
